Terms of use

A tool for studying the Quran and keeping your own notes on it: tags, reflections, questions, links between verses, articles, and AI assistance for exploring them. It is a study aid. It is not a source of religious authority.

Answers from chat and the AI tools are generated text. They can be wrong, incomplete or misleading, and they are not religious rulings. Treat them as a starting point for your own study, check them against the verse itself, and take questions of religious practice to a qualified scholar.

AI suggestions — tags, reflections, questions, connections — are proposals. Nothing is saved to your notes until you approve it.

Use a real email address you can receive mail at; account recovery depends on it. Keep your password to yourself, and keep any API keys you create private — a key acts as you. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Your notes, articles and conversations belong to you. They are stored so the app can show them back to you, and they are not published, shared with other users, or used for advertising. You can download all of it, or delete your account, at any time.

Quran text and translations shown in the app come from their own sources under their own licences — see Credits & attribution. Those texts are not yours or mine to relicense.

Please do not:

• try to break, overload or probe the service, or work around its limits;
• use another person's account, or share yours;
• upload material you have no right to upload;
• use the app to produce material that misrepresents the Quran, or that is unlawful.

AI use carries daily limits, so one person cannot exhaust what everyone else relies on. Those limits may change as the cost of running the service becomes clearer.

This is a small, independently run service. It may be slow, go down, lose a feature, or change without notice, and it is provided as it is, with no warranty. Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose — Account → Download my data exists for exactly that.

Hubuk is in beta. It works, and what you write is kept and backed up, but the app around it is still being shaped: features may change, move or occasionally break while that happens. When something does, Report a problem is the quickest way to tell us.

You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. An account may be suspended if it is used in a way that damages the service or other people's use of it.

These terms may change as the app does. The date at the top says when they last did.

A contact address will be published here shortly, once the project's own domain is in place. Until then, contact the person who gave you access to this instance.
