Delete your Hubuk account

Last updated 2 October 2026

You can delete your account, and everything in it, yourself and at any time — on the web or in the Android app. Nobody has to approve it, and it takes effect at once.

Before you delete: keep a copy

Deleting cannot be undone. To keep what you have written, open Account and choose Download my data first: everything you have written, as a zip of JSON files.

On the web

  1. Sign in and open Account.
  2. Under Danger Zone, choose Delete Account.
  3. Confirm. An account with a password asks for it; an account that signs in with Google does not.

In the Android app

  1. Open Menu, then Account.
  2. Under Danger zone, tap Delete account.
  3. Confirm, with your password if the account has one.

Uninstalling the app does not delete the account; these steps do.

What is deleted

Straight away, from the live service:

  • your account: name, email address, and password hash if it had one;
  • everything you wrote: tags, reflections, questions, links, word links, favourites, passages, concepts, thoughts, journal entries, chats and imported sources;
  • your settings, your study progress, and any API keys;
  • problem reports you sent, with their screenshots and recordings;
  • the usage, AI-use and error records tied to the account.

What is kept, and for how long

  • Encrypted backups, taken so the service can be restored after a failure: the daily copies expire after a month, the monthly ones after a year. A deleted account remains in the copies made before it was deleted until they expire.
  • Searches that found nothing are counted by their words alone, with no account attached, so there is nothing of yours in them to delete.

If you cannot sign in

An account made with Google is signed into with that same Google account. A password account made for you by the Hubuk team has its password reset by them: ask the person who gave you access.
